Dec. 7, 1941-Attack of Pearl Harbor.

7:48 AM: Air attack on Pearl Harbor begins.

7:55 AM: Comdr. Logan C. Ramsey sees enemy plane and alerts the base and ships.

8:10 AM: USS Arizona explodes, killing 1,777 men.

8:54 AM : Second wave hits, causing severe damage to USS Downes and USS Cassin.

9:30 AM: USS Shaw’s bow is blown off when a bomb hits it.

1:00 PM: Japanese force begins trip back to Japan.

Hospitals were hastily set up to care for the wounded and dying. In all 2,390 American lives were taken that day. Remembering those who died that day and those who survived such a terrible catastrophe.

    • Yes, war is a terrible thing. This is an awful tragedy for the Americans, because it was Americans who died, and I cringe when I think about the horror. However it’s not even a drop in the bucket compared to the over 1,000,000 casualties each in both Leningrad and Stalingrad. Yes, war is a very terrible thing.

      • Terrible it is. So many innocent people usually end up dead. I’m kind of surprised that as long as the Battle of Gettysburg was there was only one civilian casualty.
